| [atrb=border,0,true] Isabella both loved and hated her job at Hot Topic in the local mall. She hated it because she didn't get to have as much fun as she wanted, and she didn't really like work that much. The paycheck every week was nice though. Plus she liked hot topic a lot more than a lot of the other places that she would have applied for if she hadn't gotten this job. Overall, it wasn't that bad. Izzy just wished that she had more free time.
Izzy practically skipped over to a guy that had just walked into the store. "Hello. Can I help you find anything?" she asked, flashing him a friendly smile. The guy nodded and mentioned a certain band that he was looking for a shirt for. Izzy nodded and helped him find the shirt. After making sure that the guy didn't need any more help, Izzy went back to the register. She quickly checked the time on her phone before looking up and smiling at the girl that walked up to the register to check out. Izzy scanned the girl's items and made small talk with her. The girl handed her the exact change and then left. Her shift was nearly over.
She quickly checked out another customer, and then clocked out. Now what to do? Izzy thought about it as she walked into the back room to grab her stuff. However, her thought process was interrupted by her stomach, which loudly suggested that they go get food. Guess that's settled then. Izzy thought as she grabbed her purse and jacket. Exiting the store, Izzy made her way to the food court in the mall.
When she reached the food court, Izzy stopped for a minute or so to decide what she wanted. Finally, she picked the Chinese place and ordered her food. Isabella picked out an empty table and sat down. Taking out her phone, she answered a few text messages that needed to be replied to and sent one to one of her best friends, Eli. EEElllliiii I'm bored. Come hang out with me in the food court? Pretty please with Skittles on top? They both had jobs in the mall, and surprisingly similar schedules, so Izzy begged him to come hang out with her after work pretty often.

Elijah's lanky frame leaned over the counter top at "Disk'N'Dat" in Palisades Mall, elbows tucked firmly underneath his chest allowing him to lean forward and kick himself up into the air ever so slightly; A habit that was formed out of boredom. Today had been a rather slow day. He signed in at 3:30, just shortly after school had let out, and had been here only a few hours before his manager decided he would take a lunch break, signaling that it had been slow earlier as well. Now all Eli had for entertainment was the low volume of Rush's "Tom Sawyer" playing in the background and daydreams about how he might see his own music sitting one day among the parallel rows of vinyls and CDs that sat before him.
It wasn't a bad job really. The weekdays were the slowest, with only a few high school kids coming in just to listen to what they had along with the occasional mother or father searching for a birthday gift. It didn't really help matters that they only carried mostly vinyls; them taking up most of the rows and the cd section being limited to only two bins in the far back. Weekends were the busiest, and those were the days he looked forward to. Most of the tourist that came through Coral Ridge would stop by, scouring the place for something to take home while all the other kids who got paid the day before would come in hoping to blow some of their cash on a new vinyl from their favorite band. Those days he got to talk about music, sharing his own appreciation and love for it with the customers as well as finding some noteworthy pieces for his own collection thanks to the few that would come in and trade.
The entrance bell dinged sending off it's familiar electric clang to Eli's ears. Kicking himself up again and holding his weight on the counter, he waited until the customer (some 40 year old male who looked like he needed a shower) walked up to the counter. There routine set in with the boy asking if he needed help proceeded by the customer asking for a certain item and Eli running off among the rows to find it. Once found, he made his way back to the counter, rang the item and took the cash. Easy peasey lemon squeezy.
After the customer left, Eli reached under the counter for his phone, taking it in hand to see if he had any messages. Pressing a button the face of it let up along with the words "Izzy" and a short preview of the message she had just sent. The boy opened it and read it half to himself, half out loud with his lips moving to word the electronic speech to an unknown audience. A smile twitched across his face and his fingers started moving across the screen. "You should have said Nerds, but I will settle for the Skittles. Will be there when my manager gets back."
|
He sent in reply just in time as the entrance bell rang again. Looking up, Eli's brown eyes caught the face of his manager, whom threw up his thumb and pointed to the door signaling it was time to go. Grinning a bit, the boy reached under the counter, grabbing a package of Twizzlers he kept under there before stuffing the phone in his pocket it making his way out the door. It wasn't a far walk to the Food Court. The record store sat right on the corner so when you walked out all you had to do was turn right, walk a few feet and make a left and boom, the food court. Walking around the circular place, Eli spotted Isabella sitting at an empty table just in one of the outside rows. Sneaking up behind her, he tapped her left shoulder from behind before spinning around her and landing almost gracefully in the chair. The chair wobbled slightly, sending a look of shock across the boys face as he threw down the twizzlers and placed both hands down upon the surface of the table to balance himself. Luckily, he didn't fall, causing him to laugh slightly and a bright smile light up across his cheeks. "Well that entrance could have gone a little better." He said, still chuckling slightly. "So what's new?" [/div]

NOTES: ...
| [atrb=border,0,true] Isabella placed her iPhone down on the table right next to her container of food. She didn’t know how long it would take Elijah to be able to check his phone. It depended on how busy the store was. She moved her hand off of the phone and opened up the food container. Her order was pretty simple, just some sesame chicken and noodles. She took the plastic off of her fork and began to eat the noodles as she watched the other people in the food court. There were some couples, groups of friends, families and a few other people like her who were sitting by themselves. There were quite a few people there, but it was nowhere near full.
Bella noticed two people at table in front of her who seemed to be enjoying the taste of each other’s faces much more than the food that lay forgotten on the table in front of them. She wrinkled her nose in disgust. Why did people have to do stuff like that in front of everyone else? Izzy was about to tell them to get a room when they got up and left, possibly to do just that.
Izzy’s attention was torn from the other people by the sound of her phone vibrating against the table. She looked down at it and smiled when she saw the name Eli and a small part of the message on her screen. Unlocking her phone, she read the entire message to herself. Isabella couldn’t help but smile when she read that he would come join her when his manager got back. Yay!! She hit the send button and sat her phone back on the table.
Izzy tapped her fingers against the table as she waited for Eli to get off of work. She had a tune stuck in her head all day. Although she knew how to sing and play the guitar pretty well, if you asked her what the notes to the songs were or to read sheet music she wouldn’t be able to do it. Izzy played by ear. She knew how to make the sound she wanted on the guitar, she just didn’t know the note was actually called or how to write it down on a piece of paper.
The message probably hadn’t even made it to Eli yet when she felt a tap on her shoulder and then saw the familiar figure of her friend fall into the chair next to her, almost tipping it over in the process. She watched as he placed both of his hands on the table to regain his balance. Izzy laughed at her friend. It wasn’t in a mean way however, and she knew that Eli wouldn’t take it that way. “You think? Also, Skittles are way better than Nerds.” She said. “Kyle got dumped today and wouldn’t stop talking about it at work. You’d think he had learned by now. Other than that, not much. What about you?” Kyle was a coworker of hers. She often told him that he needed to find better people to date, but he didn’t listen and always got extremely upset when they broke up with him. Izzy actually felt sorry for the guy sometimes.

After the laughter had settled, Eli's lips twitched into another bright grin, half out of shock and half to let his counterpart know that he was alright. In all honesty, it really shouldn't have been much of a shock to him by now. He was naturally clumsy, and wasn't ashamed of the fact either. His first day of work consisted of a handshake followed by him knocking over two of the shelves after he turned and bumped into them. Constantly, Eli found himself knocking over things, tripping over his own feet, and falling upstairs. Not in that order per say, but those were the most common things to happen to him.
Hazel eyes watched as Izzy's laughter faded into speech. He knew she wasn't laughing "at" him, but then again even if she was it was understandable. She was his friend, they were expected at times to laugh about one another's stupid attempts, but there was always a thin line that he tried his best to steer clear from. She spoke up, going into her usual rant about how skittles trumped nerds in just about every aspect of the candy universe. Playfully, Eli rolled his eyes and shook his head, a small yet audible chuckle escaping his lips. Reaching over to the package of twizzlers, his fingers pinched onto one of the red strands and brought it to his lips as he listened intently. Well, he stopped at the name Kyle, already knowing right after that where the conversation was heading. What was it with that guy? Sure, it was one thing to date someone for awhile and then go 'oh hey this isn't working', but Kyle? Man, he seemed to go though them like weeds.
With the twizzler hanging out of his mouth, the boy chuckled slightly shaking his head a bit more. "Kyle?" He said in half questioning tone rather than surprise, "What does that make it? The fourth one this month alone or am I forgetting one or two?" He joked, chuckling a bit more before leaning back in the chair and biting off half of the red strand, chewing and swallow. It was at that time that he noticed his phone vibrating against his thigh. Eli made no reach for it though, but took rather a mental note to check it later. He had a thing about answering text in front of company, especially those who asked him to join 'em.
"Well besides you almost losing a bassist thanks to gravity," Eli spoke up, trying to keep himself from laughing and instead keeping a half grin plastered on his face, "Just work mainly. Dad's going out of town for a few days so I have the place to myself. Other than that though, not a thing." And with that he bit down on another piece of the twizzler.

| [atrb=border,0,true]Isabella knew that Eli was okay. He fell pretty often, and knocked over stuff, and broke stuff. He even knocked over a few things while they were on stage sometimes. She felt pretty bad for him, and worried that he was going to seriously hurt himself sometimes. Of course, Eli probably worried about her way more than she worried about him. That was understandable though, Izzy worried about herself at times as well. Eli was pretty much her rock. He thought about nearly everything he did instead of just jumping into it and asking questions later. That meant that he kept her from doing things that were too stupid. Izzy wouldn't admit it out loud, but she really needed Eli.
Izzy smiled at Eli's response about Kyle, and how silly he looked with half of a Twizzler sticking out of his mouth. "Didn't your parents ever tell you not to eat with your mouth full?" It took Izzy a second to realize what she actually sad. "Yeah, don't eat with your mouth full. Don't ask me how you're actually supposed to eat." Izzy shook her head in disappointment at herself. "Anyway, it's pretty funny because the poor guy probably has been dumped at least that many times this month alone."
Izzy rolled her eyes when Eli said that she almost lost her bassist thanks to gravity. "You're so dramatic. Maybe you should be an actor instead." She smiled, partially to let her friend know that she was just joking. Izzy didn't know what she would do if either of her friends quit the band. That was literally the only plan she had for her life. She didn't really have any other skills besides music. Izzy listened to the rest of what Eli had to say. "So, party at your house this weekend?" She asked, really only paying attention to the part about his dad going out of town.
