It was mid-morning and Victor was already wide awake, lying on a beach towel with his toes digging into the cool, grainy sand. He honestly couldn’t remember the last time he had gone to the beach and just relaxed, letting the cool ocean breeze carry his thoughts away. This was his first day off in what seemed like an eternity and it was much needed after months of nothing but work work work.
He had gotten up rather early that morning, as per usual, and had gone for his daily jog around downtown before coming home and flopping down on his couch. Normal people would’ve still been asleep had it been their day off, but he liked to stay active and after about 5 minutes of lying around and doing nothing he made up his mind and packed a beach bag.
The air had been cool and muggy when he had arrived and it had been much too early for any tourists or beach bums to be there yet, though he was met with the occasional morning jogger. But now the sun was high in the sky and the air was thick and humid, the only relief was the ocean breeze that came and went with the waves. What had been a nearly empty beach earlier when he had arrived was now filled with beach towels, colorful umbrellas, and noisy tourists who were, apparently, above keeping an eye on their children. Though despite the chatter around him he still found himself being lulled into a light sleep by the rhythm of the waves, the song of the birds, and the whispers of the wind. It was very soothing and made him realize just how hectic his life had been lately. His agent and publicist needed to understand that he wasn’t a robot and shouldn’t be worked as one—he needed his downtime just like everyone else.
An appreciative sigh escaped through his parted lips, “Just what the doctor ordered”
He knew that come tomorrow he’d be back in the studio, chatting up his publicist and going to auditions, so today he was going to enjoy every last minute of his little mini-vacation. He was comfortable where he was, the little area of the beach that he had situated himself on, luckily, hadn’t been taken over by tourists and beach goers quite yet so he still had breathing room, which was how he liked it. Victor hated being in overcrowded places and feeling like a sardine, crammed in a tiny space, it made him feel uneasy.
While he had come here alone and hadn’t really thought things through enough to have made plans with anyone else today, part of him wished that he had. It was nice to just lie there on the beach, letting the warm rays of the sun caress and heat his body, but at the same time it was rather lonely without having someone there to talk to. He was almost tempted to dig his cell phone out of his bag and give one of his friends a call, though he was sure that the majority of them were all working or already busy for the day.[/div][/div]

this lovely template was made by Arro from Caution 2.0.

cos baby you're a firework
Millie had gone out to the beach to surf. It was such a good day, warm and yet the waves were awesome. she couldn’t wait to get out there. In Auz she would literally go every single day and lucky she moved somewhere she could do that. she had finished all her unpacking and now she was giving herself a reward. It was so nice to be relaxing. Her first week on the job had been very high demanding and very tiring. She loved it already though. there weren’t many people who got saught out to work for a very high end fashion design label. she was extremely lucky and there was no doubt about that. she knew herself just how fortunate she was and the only thing she missed was her friends and family back home. now though there were so many ways to keep in touch she knew pretty much their every move and they knew hers. It was kind of weird but sort of comforting as well. coming half way across the world, adjusting to the time difference and everything else along with it was something that wasn’t easy. she had roommates at least, she had been able to get in touch with some girls who were wanting a fourth roommate and they had made her feel very welcome.
she thought that being the one coming in when they all knew each other would be hard, turned out only two of them knew each other really well, and the other had answered the ad as well. she was becoming rather close to the girls, and it helped that they were all out at the same time as her. they had the evenings to talk and get more acquainted. they had even helped Millie unpack her things (well to an extent, Millie was quite certain where she wanted some things) one of the girls even surfed which made Millie really happy. back in aussie most of her friends surfed, regardless of their gender so she really didn’t find it odd for a girl to surf. She had loved it when they did surf competitions. It had always been the best thing ever getting out in the ocean and riding the waves. one thing she actually hated though was sharks. she had a bit of a fear of them because of there being so many stories of surfers getting attacked by them. the girl who had lost an arm and still managed to surf was an inspiration to everyone in Millie’s eyes.
she came out of the water and dropped the surf board in her spot, grabbed her towel and dried herself off, putting her t-shirt and shorts and then her sunglasses. she scanned the beach with her eyes and came across a familiar face no fucking way!!! she said under her breath and got up from where she was going to sunbathe and went over to him. he had been right next to her so she could keep an eye on her stuff or move them if he invited her to Victor! she smiled widely OHEMGEEE! she squealed. she had to stop herself from hugging him straight away, after all, their contact had all of a sudden stopped, one day she had heard nothing from him after speaking every day. that had been a blow. she didn’t want to be too full on in case it wasn’t what he wanted.

His eyes had been closed, just enjoying the peaceful serenity that the myriad of ocean sounds brought, when he heard the sound of approaching feet sinking into the sand. He didn’t think much of it at first though, the shore was already full of people, but then he heard his name being called. His eyes snapped open and he squinted against the sunlight burning bright, when he finally regained vision his soft blue gaze landed on a face that he didn’t think he’d ever see again. “Millie?” Scrambling to his feet, Victor could hardly contain his excitement, “Wow, it really is you!” His childhood best friend, the girl he had laid on rooftops stargazing with, went on adventures to the beach with, fell in love with, and…hadn’t heard from in a few years. It was really unfortunate because he really tried his hardest to keep in touch with her but life seemed to have different plans for them. He had become so busy over the last few years and he was sure that she had as well, though in retrospect that was no excuse for either of them to have lost touch with each other. A wave of guilt washed over him. Here she was, standing in front of him, probably thinking that it was all his fault for them not having talked in 4 or 5 years, and here he was standing in front of her blaming himself for lost time.
You don’t know how much you truly miss someone until years have passed and you, out of the blue, see them again and it’s just, wow why did I ever let this fizzle out? That’s what he was thinking at that moment, he decided that if she wasn’t going to take the initiative then he would—stepping forward, Victor outstretched his arms and wrapped them around her, pulling her against his bare chest in a tight embrace, “I missed you.” Was all he could say, before pulling away. Despite the glowing grin plastered on his face, he was still feeling rather crummy for everything over the past few years, but at the same time a million and one questions were running through his mind and he needed to satiate his growing curiosity.
“What’re you doing here? Are you on vacation? Do you live here now?”
Her being here now was the perfect opportunity for them to fix things, he felt the need to apologize for everything and just wanted to hear that everything was alright and that she’d forgive him. He just wanted to have his best friend back and for them to jump right back into their old relationship, though he knew that that was probably a lost cause—so many things had changed since then, they were different people than what they were back when they were teenagers running around town. Making up his mind, he decided that he wanted to make it up to Millie.

cos baby you're a firework
she nodded it is me she smiled at him. she didn’t know exactly what had happened, whether it had been her or him who had broken the contact, but whoever it had been, she was glad that they would have a chance to make up for it, most definitely. back then they had been inseparable, when he left she had been inconsolable for quite a while. he had been the one she told everythingtoo. it didn’t matter that he was a guy. she didn’t speak to him about her girl problems cos that would have been awkward but literally everything else she did and having had that taken away had hurt her, it had really hurt her….yes maybe she should have tried harder to keep in contact with him, but he was an actor now, what made her think that he would want to be seen with the likes of her? he was probably seeing some beautiful actress or something. not that she cared if he was dating or not. he did look really good though, she always remembered him getting lots of female attention. at one point she had become his personal secatary for dates. It had made her slightly jealous because of the time that he would spend with the girls.
She felt him pull her in for a hug, and her arms slowly found their way around his neck. She had really missed him, not only had they told each other everything but he had been the one to console her when boys dumped her. he’d always been there for her, which was why she found it so strange they had lost contact. she had been busy and maybe she should have gone to see him. she had no idea that he would be here, but would this all be fate bringing them back together? I missed you too she finally said, still holding onto him and not wanting to let him go, just in case he would go off again. she didn’t know if she would be able to handle loosing him again, it was hard enough the first time, but it would hurt a whole lot more if he disappeared now he knew that she was around. that would pretty much crush her, even if she was pretty sensitive, it didn’t matter. the old Victor wouldn’t do that, but he was famous now, well known and she did not know him….well maybe she did but they definitely had a lot of catching up to do.
Millie smiled I just moved here she confirmed I got a job with a top fashion design company she said so yeah….this is my home now she said with a casual shrug. Millie knew that it would be awkward, but she needed to know. why did their contact break? was it something she had done? so…..I haven’t heard from you in like….five years? she said with a small smile I have to ask you, did I do something wrong? she asked him straight up. normally she wouldn’t like to ask, and she would avoid confrontation, but this was her best friend, or at least he had been those years ago, and it seemed pretty easy to talk to him, like old times, she needed to know what had happened. you seem to be doing pretty well for yourself all the same she commented.

She was just as stunning as he remembered, even more so infact, she had grown up—he had always thought that his best friend was beautiful but wow. Victor found himself not wanting to let go of her but didn’t know how she felt about him embracing her in the first place and didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable, they hadn’t seen each other in forever and he wasn’t quite sure what was acceptable behavior and what wasn’t in this sort of situation. At first he felt a slight wave of panic when she stood there against him, until slowly but surely she wrapped her arms around him, a rush of relief cascaded over him as she returned the hug. Maybe this friendship was salvageable afterall…
I missed you too
Hearing those four words fall from her lips was like music to his ears! Despite the lack of communication between them he hadn’t stopped thinking about her—mainly wondering what she was up to and how her life was and even if she remembered him or if he had just been a childhood memory to her. But now that his fears were dispelled he could sleep peacefully, knowing that she had missed him as well.
“That’s great, Millie! I’m so proud of you!” His lips pulled back into a bright grin, excitement dancing in his eyes, what were the odds that they’d both be living in the same country again, let alone the same town in florida! Maybe this was God’s way of saying that they were meant to be friends till the very end and that nothing would get in between them for long before they found their way back to each other. Or maybe he was reading too far into it..
His heart sank as soon as she asked if she had done something wrong. Was that really what she had been thinking that entire 5 or so years that they had been apart? It was heart breaking to say the least because there was nothing she could possibly ever do to make him willingly abandon or hate her. “Absolutely not. In all honesty I really don’t know what went wrong there—it certainly had nothing to do with you, so please don’t think anything like that ever again. I think…we both just got busy with life—school, jobs, relationships…and the different time zones probably didn’t help much either. Though, I’ll admit that none of that is a decent excuse to stop talking—I’m sorry we lost touch, Millie.”
Running a hand through his somewhat shaggy hair, Victor plastered on an apologetic smile, “But you know…now that you live here we’ll have plenty of time to get back in the swing of things, yeah? I mean, we’ve got at least 5 years worth of catching up to do.”

cos baby you're a firework
she could feel him hold onto her slightly, and as he let go, she did too. she didn’t want him to think that she was a complete freak or something, she had just missed him, and seeing him right now made her realise just how much she really had missed him, like so much. she couldn’t think in her mind what possessed her to not keep trying to make contact with him. well , that was over now….here they were, almost like fate had brought them back together. she didn’t really believe in fate or anything along those lines but this was too good to be true, and it seemed like someone had been thinking that they needed to get together again.
like Victor, she had never really stopped thinking about him, even though they hadn’t been in contact. he had been her best friend all those years, it would be very hard to accept that person was gone from her life, especially Millie who could be quite emotional at times. she had wondered whether it had been something she had done, but then again she could have kept trying but instead she believed that he didn’t want to contact her which was not the case at all. it made her feel bad.
thanks, that means a lot she said pulling a strand of her hair away from her face. especially from you she told him. Growing up, it was all Millie would talk about some of the time, getting a job in a very high end designer company and that is exactly what she had now. she had worked very hard to get where she wanted to be though and made sure that she did everything to the highest of her ability at college. she had always been ambitious and knew exactly what she wanted.
she listened and nodded to be honest I should have kept trying to get In contact she told him. I was busy with college and also after not hearing from you for a while I kinda gave up, I shouldn’t have and for that I am sorry she smiled we both got busy, it wasn’t just you. I just….I don’t know what I thought really to be honest with you. I was just confused….I was so upset when you left, I cried a lot and my mum couldn’t stand it, she forced me to go out with my friends she laughed it did get better though, I wasn’t always like that she smiled. I am sorry we lost touch too, there has been times when I really needed you and I am sure you have had times like that too she said.
Millie nodded. she was definitely up for that absolutely she said is there a beach bar we can go to so we can get a drink and start the catch up we need? she asked him.

Knowing that he was never going to see her again had been a thought at the forefront of his mind for the past few years, it wasn’t a thought that he particularly enjoyed entertaining but, really, it didn’t exactly seem like things were going to change. The fact that they were standing in front of each other at that moment was nothing short of a miracle in his book and he thanked whatever higher force that had brought them together again.
“No problem. It’s good to know that I wasn’t the only one who misunderstood this whole thing, I’m sorry that that happened in the first place, Mills.” Running his fingers through his shaggy ear-length sandy-brown hair, Victor tilted his head, his heart still pounded against his ribcage from their hug and the initial excitement from seeing her in the first place. After the Hawthornes moved he’d been so caught up with college and busying himself with his studies that he honestly hadn’t had much time for a social life at all—he had focused all his time and efforts on making the best grades he possibly could. Even after acting came into his life he still made sure that his studies were of the utmost importance, he wanted to ensure that if acting didn’t pan out then he at least had something to fall back on. And he still maintained that if for some reason he became less popular with the population that he’d just quit and become a Biology Teacher.
He sucked in a breath when she mentioned how miserable she’d been after he had left, just the thought of him bringing pain to anyone, especially her, was enough to make Victor want to shrivel up and disappear forever. “I’m sorry I did that to you…” He hung his head in shame, his lips pulling into a deepset frown. After a moment or two he picked up his head, his gaze returning to her face, “I’m glad things got better, I’m sorry I couldn’t be there for you. Trust me, there were loads of times where I needed to talk to you, needed your opinion on something, or just needed to hear your voice..”
Jumping at the chance to spend time with her, he nodded his head eagerly, “Sounds like a plan to me, just let me pick up my things and we can be on our way.” He stumbled back towards his towel, lifting it up and waving it in the wind to get the excess sand off of it before folding it up and stashing it away in his messenger bag before slinging the strap over his shoulder and turning back to face his best mate, “You all set? Lead the way.”
